Our house is situated in Gran Alacant, a growing community less than 10 minutes drive from Alicante airport and yet not on a flight path. The road itself is quiet and mostly occupied by Spanish families. Alicante City is approx. 10 miles away. Positioned near to the top of a hill there are spectacular views of the sea. The beautiful endless beach is a 10 minute walk away and during the height of summer there is a beach hut (which sells snacks and drinks) and sun beds.

Our house has one double bedroom, one twin room and can accommodate four people in comfort. There is also a very good double sofa bed in the living area, which can be used if necessary. The fully equipped kitchen has an electric hob and oven, microwave, large ‘fridge and an extensive range of equipment. There is a fully automatic washing machine and washing lines. The bathroom comprises of a bath, shower, toilet and bidet. There is a separate downstairs toilet. For those hot summer nights there are very effective ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living area. For chilly nights there are electric radiators. Towels and bed linen are also provided (but not beach towels).

The patio, which has a large retractable awning, faces the sea and there is also an outside shower. Just up the road you will have the use of the communal swimming pool.

There is a car parking space adjacent to the patio.

Local Area

Gran Alacant is ideally situated with shops and restaurants close to hand.

The local Tapas bars will give you a real taste of Spanish life and the local shops can supply all your needs very cheaply. The beautifully decorated Chinese restaurants are particularly good value for money Other good restaurants are just a few minutes walk away. Holiday makers enjoy gathering in the local square during the evenings where there is always a very friendly atmosphere and also an internet café should you want to catch up on those emails. Several banks are just around the corner and there is also a Pharmacy. There are also several large super markets including Lidl and Mercadona a short drive away in the Commercial Centre. Here you can enjoy a relaxing lunch during siesta time. 

There is a wonderful street market on Thursdays.

A short walk down the hill will bring you to the nature reserve.

Car hire is easy to arrange although there is a regular bus service, which passes by the end of the road. The buses go to Alicante and from there it is possible to catch a bus to many different places. There is also a frequent bus service to Santa Pola, well worth a visit.

New this year is a “road train” which picks up & drops off at various places around Gran Alacant including various retaurants, shopping areas & the beach. The “train” stop is very close by.

Costa Blanca (or White Coast)

The beaches are famous throughout Europe, and largely unspoilt, stretching for miles. The soft white sands and crystal clear waters have been awarded the Blue Flag Award by the EEC. There are also salt lakes close to Torrevieja (about 30 minutes drive from Gran Alacant) which are home to a host of wild life including pink flamingos. The City of Alicante itself is very vibrant and ideal for all your shopping needs.  45 minutes drive drive north brings you to Benidorm. Here you can spend a day visiting the marine and exotic animal park or cool off at Aqualandia (the water park). Or if you wish you can spend your time visiting the many bars and shops!

Golf

There are many golf courses along the Costa Blanca. The one in Villamartin is about 45 minutes away from Gran Alacant and considered to be one of the best in Spain. There are other Golf courses even closer!

Notes to the Rental Rates

10% discounts on bookings over 2 weeks. Special rates may apply to bookings over 1 month.

A non-refundable deposit of £50 per week is required at the time of booking. The balance is due 6 weeks before the start of the holiday. In addition a security cheque of £100.00 will also be required to cover any accidental damage. This will be returned once the property has been inspected and subject to the house being left tidy and no breakages or damage have occurred.

There is a supplement of £50.00 for any week which includes Christmas, New Year or Easter.

The only extra charges are 45 euros for cleaning which is paid locally. Also 100 euros if keys are lost and need to be replaced.
